Gniew Castle
Gniew Castle is the mightiest stronghold of the Teutonic order on the left bank of the Vistula River. Built at the turn of the 13th and the 14th centuries was the home of Teutonic commanders, and in Polish times the seat of starostas. In 1921 the castle burnt out. After the war the castle was rebuilt.
The performances and historical outdoor stagings, a night sightseeing with the ghosts and chivalry tournaments organized here caused Gniew Castle to be recognized as one of the main history dissemination centres in Poland.
